US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday congratulated India on its 75th Republic Day and conveyed hopes for deepening bilateral ties. He also hoped to deepen the "vibrant people-to-people ties between our nations"
"On behalf of the USA, I congratulate Indians on Republic Day," said Blinken, warmly wishing citizens on the special occasion. He said also said that the “Constitution of India continues to provide an enduring framework for the world's largest democracy and a foundation for its global leadership.
I warmly extend my best wishes to the Indian people as they celebrate this special occasion," Blinken added.
In a statement, Secretary Blinken noted that 2022 saw important milestones in the US-India Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. He highlighted cooperation during India’s successful G20 presidency and the G20 Summit.
Blinken expressed a desire to further strengthen vibrant people-to-people linkages between both democracies in the coming year. He also wants to advance the ambitious bilateral cooperation agenda on shared priorities.
"In the year ahead, we look forward to further deepening the vibrant people-to-people ties between our countries and advancing our ambitious agenda for cooperation on our most vital priorities," he said.
The Secretary underlined that President Joe Biden has termed the US-India partnership as “one of the most consequential” globally.
Blinken said India's Constitution continues enabling the world's largest democracy while underpinning global leadership.
As strategic partners, India & the US achieved closer coordination in 2022. The statements indicate an emphasis on boosting economic, technological, and security collaboration while further growing people-to-people linkages in 2023.
With shared priorities on the global stage, both sides are keen to advance an ambitious cooperation agenda on issues of mutual interest, including in healthcare, space, counter-terrorism, etc.
The greetings reflect the high value the Biden administration places on strong ties with an increasingly influential India under the global partnership.
