North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin for a visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) during their talks in Russia on Wednesday. According to media reports Putin has also accepted the invitation.

The White House has however once again warned against this partnership. US State Department has said that the Biden administration “won’t hesitate” to impose more sanctions on Russia and North Korea if they conclude any new arms deals.

What does Kim Jong Un has to say about this meeting?

Kim told the media for the success of the bilateral talks that took place in Russia’s Far East which brought the relationship between the two nations to a new level. He also expressed his willingness to foster stable, future-oriented relations for the next 100 years.

During his visit to Russia Kim was briefed about the technical details about the Russian space vehicles. The north Korean leader also said that he is sure Russia would win a “great victory” over its enemies as the western allies of Ukraine warned of a possible Russian arms agreement with Pyongyang.

Putin’s remark on Russia-DPRK Summit

On Wednesday Putin also praised the strengthening relationship between the DPRK and the Kremlin government and told reporters about a possible military cooperation.

The talks was attended by Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and few details have been given about this possible cooperation. Moscow has preferred to disclose minimum information on this matter as it says sensitive discussions between neighbours were a private matter

US warns Russia and DPRK on arms deal

US has been on guard about the arms deal that could take place between Russia and North Korea. On Wednesday the US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller issued the warning at a briefing in response to questions about the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

He said that the Biden administration “won’t hesitate” to press more sanctions on North Korea and Russia in the event of an arms deal between them.

“We have taken a number of actions already to sanction entities that brokered arms sales between North Korea and Russia and we won’t hesitate to impose additional sanctions if appropriate,” Miller said.

Miller further called the discussions between the two countries a possible violation of the U.N. Security Council resolutions.

“When you see what looks to be increased cooperation and probably military transfers, that is quite troubling and would potentially be in violation of multiple U.N. Security Council resolutions,” Miller said.
