A number of Indian citizens who possess H-1B visas and Green Cards recently faced surprise deportations or detention processes while expressing public concerns over immigration policies isolated by the Donald Trump administration.

Indians in US terrorized by Trump's deportation policies

Such is the case of Badar Khan Suri, a graduate student at Georgetown University from India, who was picked up by federal immigration officials outside his home in Virginia."Masked agents took into custody Badar Khan Suri, a postdoctoral fellow and Indian national, from the doorstep of his home in Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia, on Monday evening, his lawyer said in a lawsuit to obtain his release on an immediate basis."

Department of Homeland Security

The agents presented themselves as working with the Department of Homeland Security and informed him that his [student] visa was revoked by the government," the lawsuit states, according to Politico. Suri was put into deportation proceedings under a little-used immigration law provision that permits the Secretary of State to deport noncitizens if their presence is found to be a threat to U.S. foreign policy.

Palestinian American background

His lawyer argues Suri is targeted due to the Palestinian American background of his wife.Tricia McLaughlin, a department spokesperson for DHS, tweeted saying Suri had been charged. Indian tech professionals in the U.S. have begun to feel confused because of a number of actions that seem linked to security issues.
