In a startling incident from Pakistan's Punjab region, a uniformed police officer was caught on camera smoking 'charas' (hashish) inside a commercial vehicle. The discovery was made by a local journalist who had set out to document the preparation of hashish in the area. To his astonishment, the journalist stumbled upon a policeman actively consuming the substance.

Caught in act

The video captured by the reporter showed the officer nonchalantly holding and smoking a roll of hashish. Realizing he had been caught red-handed, the officer hastily fled the scene, pushing the reporter aside in his attempt to escape.

The reporter, undeterred, gave chase while narrating the scene: "This Punjab Police officer is running away after being caught smoking and dealing in charas. How can such people ensure public safety?"

Fleeing to safety

The policeman was seen escaping into a cantonment area, a secured zone where filming is prohibited. This prevented the reporter from pursuing him further. The video, however, was enough to shed light on the situation and raise serious questions about law enforcement accountability.

Reporter calls for action

In his footage, the journalist appealed to the Inspector General of Punjab Police, questioning the integrity of officers involved in such activities. "IG Punjab sir, how can individuals like this be trusted to uphold the law?" he asked, urging immediate action against the errant policeman.

Earlier this year, Pakistan legalized the medicinal use of cannabis as part of an effort to tackle its economic crisis. However, recreational use of cannabis and hashish remains illegal, making this incident particularly egregious.
