Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was escorted to safety after a pro-Palestinian protest broke out in front of a restaurant in Vancouver where he was dining, authorities said Wednesday. The protest saw the participation of around 250 pro-Palestinian supporters, who had surrounded the restaurant located in the citys Chinatown district on Tuesday evening. They were seen waving flags and chanting for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. “Shame on you! The protest also took a violent turn as one man was arrested after he punched a police officer and gouged her eyes as well. “The actions of the protesters, such as blocking the lane behind the restaurant caused a concern, Vancouver police Sergeant Steve Addison said in a news conference. Similar incident In a similar incident PM Trudeau was earlier disrupted when he was visiting the restaurant of celebrity chef Vikram Vij in Vancouver, as per media reports. The visuals from this incident show a group of protesters entering Vijs restaurant and shouting at the PM, demanding Gaza ceasefire.Trudeau was also rebuked by Israeli PM Netanyahu after he commented at an event that killing of women, of children, of babies in the Israel-Hamas war must stop on Tuesday.
