In appreciation of his worldwide leadership, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the prestigious Companion of the Order, Fiji’s highest honour, on Monday. Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka awarded Prime Minister Modi with this exceptional honour, which is rarely conferred to non-Fijians. The Prime Minister’s Office stated that it was a remarkable honour for India, emphasising that only a few people who were not of Fijian heritage had previously earned this honour.

Prime Minister Modi addressed the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) meeting in Papua New Guinea, where he met Prime Minister Rabuka of Fiji on the sidelines. The two leaders had a fruitful talk over a variety of topics. Prime Minister Modi expressed his pleasure at meeting Prime Minister Rabuka, stressing India and Fiji’s longstanding link and pledging to expand bilateral ties in the future. The Prime Minister dedicated the honour to the people of India and the Fiji-Indian community, recognising their tremendous contributions to the two nations’ special relationship.
