Speaking with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the Free Trade Agreement. There was some progress made on significant problems during the most recent rounds of trade negotiations between the UK and India. 

Secretary of State for Business and Trade of the United Kingdom Kemi Badenoch said that while it is "possible" to complete a trade agreement with India before the country's general election, Britain does not want to use it as a deadline.

In an effort to greatly expand their GBP 36 billion bilateral business relationship, India and the UK have been discussing a free trade deal since January 2022. On December 15, of last year, the thirteenth round of negotiations came to an end, and both parties were optimistic that the current fourteenth round would result in an agreement.
