On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a gracious invitation to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Australian cricket enthusiasts, inviting them to witness the forthcoming Cricket World Cup and Diwali celebrations in India, scheduled for later this year.

During his three-day visit to Australia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the remarks during a joint press briefing with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese after their bilateral meeting in Sydney. Drawing upon the sport of cricket, Prime Minister Modi highlighted that the relationship between India and Australia has entered a “T20 mode,” emphasising the dynamic and fast-paced nature of the bilateral ties between the two nations.

During his statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a warm invitation to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and all Australian cricket enthusiasts to visit India for the upcoming Cricket World Cup later this year. He expressed that during their visit, they would have the opportunity to witness the splendid Diwali festivities in the country as well.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the significance of the meeting, stating that it marked their sixth encounter within the past year. This frequency of meetings, according to him, demonstrates the profound nature of their comprehensive relationship and the maturity of their ties. Employing a cricket metaphor, he described their relationship as having entered the “T20 mode,” highlighting its dynamic and fast-paced nature.

In their bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that he and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese held discussions regarding the recent incidents of temple attacks perpetrated by separatist elements in Australia. Prime Minister Modi emphasised that the presence of such elements, which could potentially disrupt the relations between India and Australia, would not be tolerated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi affirmed that any individuals or ideologies that pose a threat to the cordial and amicable relationship between India and Australia will not be tolerated. He expressed satisfaction with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s reassurance during their meeting, assuring him that strict measures would be taken against such elements in the future as well.
