PM Modi grabs limelight at G7 Summit, takes centre stage

Several world leaders arrived in Italy for the three-day G7 Summit from June 13-15 at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni. India participated in the summit as an outreach nation. Among all the leaders, PM Modi’s legacy continued in Italy as he took centre stage in the G7 leader's family photo.

PM Modi shared the photo on his X handle, captioning it, “With world leaders at the G7 Summit in Italy.”

Significant on global stage

PM Modi's participation in the G7 summit and the subsequent group photo has garnered significant attention and celebration across India, which reflects India's growing prominence on the global stage and its active involvement in key international forums.

In the photo, he can be standing at the centre, which quickly grabbed the attention and remarked “India is now at the centre of the world.”

PM Modi also held several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the G7 summit and met all the prominent leaders in Italy. 
Responding to the photos shared on social media platforms, the users show excitement. One of the users wrote, “Some leaders don't need a membership to lead.”

Another said, “HISTORY CREATED, This reflects India's growing influence on the global stage.”

It is worth noting that the G7 Summit is a group of seven countries – the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and France and the European Union. Being a host this time, Italy extended the invitation to 11 developing countries like Africa, South America, South America and Indo-Pacific nations. 

PM Modi held bilateral talks with G7 member countries around defence and global issues and after the summit; PM Modi thanked Italian PM Meloni for the extended invitation. Notably, this was India’s 11 attendance and fifth consecutive participation in the G7. He further asserted that they together will cement India-Italy relations in areas like commerce, energy, defence, telecom and more.

He described the visit as “very productive.”
