It is indeed a special day for the two nations, India and US as Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Joe Biden today i.e. on Thursday in order to strengthen the relations. PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome and a guard of honour on his arrival at Joint Base Andrews in Washington DC.
The day became more special when the prime minister was seen braving the rain while the anthems were played. PM Modi was also seen wearing a raincoat.

In a tweet, PM Modi called the drenching of rain a “blessing of Indra Devta.” On reaching Washington, the prime minister wrote, “Reached Washington DC. The warmth of the Indian community and the blessings of Indra Devta made the arrival even more special.”

Further, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi wrote, “The Official State visit moves to its next phase. PM @narendramodi accorded a ceremonial welcome and guard of honour as he sets foot at the Joint Base Andrews airport in Washington DC. In Washington DC, PM will hold bilateral meeting with @POTUS @JoeBiden; address the Joint Session of the US Congress; and interact with CEOs and a cross-section of Indian diaspora.”

Moreover, several BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leaders and netizens circulated the prime minister’s post on their social media platforms. Also, they hailed PM Modi for his nationalist spirit.
While being the first to share PM Modi’s video, BJP’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra wrote in Hindi, “Jai Hind.”

A Twitter user wrote, “In a remarkable display of respect and patriotism, PM Modi stood in the rain today to honor the National Anthem upon his arrival in the United States.”
PM Modi was greeted with resounding chants of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ as he interacted with the Indian diaspora. The roads were flooded with his supporters, PM Modi got a grand reception upon his arrival at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington.
