On the fringes of the G7 Summit in Italy, Prime Minister Modi had bilateral discussions with world leaders such as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine, President Emmanuel Macron of France, and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of the UK.

New Delhi: At the location of the G7 Summit in Italy on Friday, Italian counterpart Georgia Meloni met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They held separate, one-on-one talks with leaders around the globe outside the gathering. PM Modi met with Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine, Emmanuel Macron of France, and Rishi Sunak of the UK.  Zelenskyy informed Modi on many elements of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. At the same time, Macron and Modi discussed ways to further expand the strategic relationship, notably in the defense, nuclear, and space sectors. During their brief conversation, he also discussed improving bilateral ties with Sunak.

Indian PM at G7

PM Modi landed in Apulia, Italy, earlier today in order to participate in the G7 Summit outreach session. On Friday, he is anticipated to meet with a number of leaders off-site. The Prime Minister is traveling abroad for the first time since taking office for a record-breaking third term.

Modi holds bilateral talks with French President Macron 

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, PM Modi and President Macron spoke about ways to further develop their relationship in the areas of defense, nuclear, space, education, combating climate change, digital public infrastructure, key technologies, connectivity, and culture.

According to a statement from the MEA, the two leaders decided to step up their strategic defense collaboration and put more of an emphasis on "Made in India."

PM Modi holds bilateral talks with UK PM Sunak

According to the External Affairs Ministry, PM Modi and Rishi Sunak discussed a number of topics during their discussion, including the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, strengthening industrial collaboration in the defense industry, and promoting trade and commerce.

PM Modi holds bilateral talks with Ukraine Ppresident Zelenskyy  

Zelenskyy and PM Modi "exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine and discussed the bilateral partnership." MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the PM "conveyed that India continues to promote peaceful resolution of the situation via dialogue and diplomacy."

"India is keen to further solidify bilateral relations with Ukraine," the prime minister declared after describing the meeting as "extremely beneficial."

PM Modi meets Pope Francis

During the G7 Summit is outreach session in Italy, Pope Francis and Prime Minister Narendra Modi meet. Additionally, the Prime Minister initiates a discussion with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

G7 takes center stage in Geopolitics

PM Modi is scheduled to speak at a G7 Summit outreach event. Giorgia Meloni, the prime minister of Italy, met Modi on Friday when he took office as the head of the Italian Council of Ministers. "To attend the G7 Summit, the prime minister of India has landed at the airport in Brindisi, Italy. He has a busy day planned for tomorrow (Friday). We have scheduled multiple one-on-one encounters with global leaders. He will also speak at the G7 Summit outreach session, according to Jaiswal.

Pope Francis and summit

Alongside Pope Francis, the Italian prime minister, Georgia Meloni, will hold a summit session titled Artificial Intelligence, Energy, and Africa-Mediterranean, in which the prime minister will also take part. It is also anticipated that the Pope and PM Modi will speak one-on-one. India received an invitation from Italy to participate in the summit as an outreach nation. With 10 G7 summits attended by India, this marks PM Modi's fifth consecutive year participating at the summit. Italy, which is now serving as the G7 Chair, is hosting the meeting of the European Union and the group of seven major advanced economies, which also includes Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the UK, and the US.

On Friday, the second day of the three-day summit, world leaders talked about economic security, the Indo-Pacific region, and migration. On Thursday, the Russia-Ukraine issue dominated the topic, and India reaffirmed that "dialogue and diplomacy" were the best course of action. Alongside Pope Francis, the Italian prime minister, Georgia Meloni, will hold a summit session titled Artificial Intelligence, Energy, and Africa-Mediterranean, in which the prime minister will also take part. It is also anticipated that the Pope and PM Modi will speak one-on-one.

Leaders at the meet

The leaders of ten other outreach nations have been invited to the summit, in addition to the G7 participants, which are being hosted by Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni and include US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Council President Charles Michel.

Nations have talks

Leaders of eleven developing nations in Africa, South America, and the Indo-Pacific area have also been invited by Italy to attend the G7 Summit, in addition to India. Among the other outreach countries are the leaders of the governments of Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Jordan, Kenya, and Mauritania, which is serving as the chair of the African Union. Tunisia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates are also included.
