Three-time Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winner actor Piper Laurie has passed away in Los Angeles. She was 91.
According to the US-based media outlet, Deadline, Laurie had been ill for some time and died on Saturday. Her representative, Marion Rosenberg confirmed the death.
She was known for her performances in ‘The Hustler’ and ‘Carrie’ and for her outlandish two characters.
Laurie was nominated nine times for an Emmy and three times for an Academy Award during her career. She won her lone Emmy for playing James Garner‘s old flame telefilm ‘Promise’ in 1986.
Laurie debuted on TV through in the live TV drama ‘The Days of Wine and Roses.’ She was also known for her work on the TV drama ‘Twin Peaks.’
The actress was born on January 22, 1932, she was the youngest of two daughters. As per the reports from Deadline, the family moved to Los Angeles, when she was 6 and she spent three years in a children’s asylum in Los Angeles accompanying her sister, who was there for health reasons.
Piper Laurie, made her film debut as Ronald Reagan’s daughter in ‘Louisa’ (1950). Her last appearance on the screen was in the 2018 film ‘White Boy Rick’.
