Japan’s Yokohama city witnessed an enchanting spectacle as a Pikachu dancing event was held, captivating attendees with the joyful dance moves of these beloved Pokemon characters. The event aimed to draw crowds and provide an engaging experience for fans of all ages.
Pikachu, known as one of the most popular and cherished cartoon characters, holds a special place in the hearts of children and adults alike. The recent event was part of the Pokemon World Championship, supported by Yokohama City. The championship included various activities, such as the Pikachu march, Pokemon card game tournaments, Pokemon Go challenges, and the competitive Pokemon Unite, all leading to the nomination of the world champion.
This year’s edition of the World Championship found its home in Japan after previous editions were held in the United States and the United Kingdom. The Yokohama Museum served as the backdrop for the delightful Pikachu dance, captivating spectators with its vibrant and animated display.

Families, accompanied by excited children, eagerly awaited the opportunity to meet the real-life Pikachus in person. The event garnered substantial attention from both local visitors and tourists, who came together to celebrate this unique and heartwarming experience.
One Pikachu enthusiast exclaimed, “It was a lot of fun because these amazing Pikachu twirled around and waved to me.” The Pikachu characters, adorned with their distinct numbers on their backs, added a touch of authenticity and pride to the event, the fans added.
A special parade featuring 100 family characters from the Pokemon universe added to the festivities. Fans and onlookers alike captured the moments in photographs and cheered along the streets of Yokohama.
Hailing from Germany, a follower of the Japanese cartoon shared, “We came here to watch the Pikachu march. It was really, really cute. I am really happy to see Pikachu.”
Another attendee from Germany shared their delight, saying, “I especially liked how animated Pikachus were during the march as if they were ready to turn around and greet children. That was really fun. I think it was a really cool event.”
As night fell, a live show unfolded, where numerous Pikachus took to the stage and performed for the audience. Drone mapping added a mesmerising element to the night sky, as the iconic Pokemon characters were visualised against the backdrop.
Even in the face of potential disruptions from typhoons and heavy rains that can characterise Japan’s summer, the enthusiasm of both the Pikachu characters and the children prevailed.
