A 20-year-old superfan from Pakistan has earned the title of the world's number one Taylor Swift fan by breaking a Guinness World Record. Bilal Ilyas Jhandir identified an astounding 34 Taylor Swift songs just from hearing their lyrics read aloud within 60 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 27 held by Dan Simpson of the UK since 2019.
To complete the challenge, Bilal had to recognise random songs from a list of Swift's 50 top-selling tracks, relying solely on the spoken words without any musical accompaniment. His achievement demonstrates his remarkable memory and attention to detail when it comes to the pop icon's extensive catalogue.
According to Bilal, attempting this record was the "best way on Earth" to express his extraordinary devotion to Taylor Swift. Although he claimed to already know all her lyrics by heart from years of fandom, he still embarked on a rigorous 13-week training period to prepare for the record attempt. This involved such immersive listening sessions that he would sometimes find himself reciting her lyrics in his sleep.
"I have been listening to Taylor Swift since my childhood. I am a die-hard fan of her. I have listened to each and every song of hers. I can identify almost any song of hers from the lyrics," Bilal told Guinness World Records.
By excelling at this unique test of knowledge, Bilal has proven himself as Taylor Swift's number one superfan. His dedication has earned him a place in the Guinness World Records hall of fame.
