World News: After the bloody terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India has taken a decision against Pakistan, which may increase its existence thirst. India has suspended the Indus Water Treaty, which was till now the biggest agreement between the two countries. This one decision has also created a stir on international forums.

What is Indus Water Treaty, which has now become a broken stream?

In 1960, the Indus Water Treaty of World Bank between India and Pakistan was the basis of water sharing of six rivers - Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Sutlej, Beas and Ravi - water sharing. Under this treaty, India got more use of Eastern rivers and Pakistan had more use of Western rivers.

Can India stop water immediately, this is big question? Experts say no. For this, India will have to prepare a large network of dams, reservoirs and canals, which will take at least 10 years. But the suspension has made a permanent pressure on Pakistan.

Pakistan's fury: request for help in international forums

After this tough step of India, Pakistan has made it clear that it will take the issue to international forums. But this time the atmosphere has changed - after the death of 26 innocent citizens in Pahalgam, a large part of the world seems to be standing with India against terror.

How will diplomatic board lay in the United Nations?

Everyone is now eyeing the veto powers of the United Nations Security Council, which decides to pass or fail any proposal:

  • America: America's inclination will be towards India due to strategic partnership with India, business relations and alliance against China in Hind-Pacific. However, its old strategic relationship with Pakistan may cause some hesitation.
  • Russia: The decades -old trusted friend of India. Russia can certainly stand with India.
  • China: The familiar friend of Pakistan. CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) may support Pakistan due to heavy investment in it, even though it has condemned the attack.
  • Britain: There are strong trading relations with India, but the UK has a large Pakistani migrant population. Therefore, Britain's stance is likely to remain balanced.
  • France: A strong stand on defense deal (Rafael) and terrorism with India can clearly make France clearly in favor of India. His distance with Pakistan remains.

The case will not reach the United Nations in a hurry

There is a system of resolving this entire issue first through the Permanent Indus Commission and then the World Bank. The issue in the United Nations will go only when all these efforts fail. Furthermore, completely canceling the Indus Water Treaty is a complex and long process under the Vienna Treaty Code, which can further provoke regional tension.

Pahalgam attack: anger spark

On 22 April, 4-5 terrorists firing indiscriminately in Pahalgam, Kashmir, killed 26 innocents. This attack shook the whole of India. Now there is a demand from all over the country that Pakistan should be responded to on every front - through water too.

New India, new answer

India's suspension of the Indus Water Treaty is not just a legal action, but it is a strategic warning - now not just words, but also from the flow of rivers. This can become another crisis for Pakistan in the coming time.
