Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan was sent to a 14-day judicial remand by a special court in Islamabad on Monday. The court rejected a plea of the anti-corruption watchdog to grant his physical custody to further probe him.

When was Imran Khan jailed?

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party chief has been jailed in Rawalpindi since September 26 in various cases. Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi is also accused in the case of ₹50 billion in alleged corruption.

Accountability Court of Islamabad's Judge Muhammad Bashir conducted the hearing in the Adiala Jail. Imran Khan's sisters Aleema Khanum and Noreen Khanum appeared before the court.

A five-member prosecution team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was also present at the hearing.

NAB detains former PM of Pakistan

When the former Prime Minister was detained by the NAB once again in the Al-Qadir Trust case, he was already jailed in Adiala for the cipher case. He was subsequently placed under physical remand and sent over to the watchdog.

The Dawn newspaper had said that Khan was questioned in jail by a Pakistani anti-corruption team regarding a corruption case worth billions of rupees.

According to a top NAB officer, Khan was questioned for more than two hours on Sunday when his team visited him in the Adiala Jail regarding accusations related to the 190 million pounds (₹50 billion) Al Qadir Trust case.

What are the other accusations against Imran Khan?

Khan is also charged with hoaxing the cabinet by withholding information about the settlement arrangement. As per the settlement agreement, money was received and was meant to be placed into the national exchequer. However, it was changed in order to reclaim Bahria Town Karachi's (BTK) ₹450 billion in obligations.
