Pakistan: 8 killed, 26 injured after terrorist open fire at bus in Gilgit Baltistan

Terrorists indiscriminately fired on a passenger bus in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), killing eight people and injuring 26 others on Saturday.

At least eight people were killed and 26 others were injured after a group of terrorists opened fire on a passenger bus in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’s Gilgit Baltistan region on Saturday, said the police.

Terror attack in Pak’s Baltistan

According to the officials, the bus was travelling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi when the terrorists opened indiscriminately fired around 6:30 pm (local time) in Chilas.

The driver then lost control after the attack and the bus collided with a truck coming from the opposite side, said the officials.

Briefing about the incident, Deputy Commissioner Chilas Arif Ahmed said that five of the eight people killed in the attack were identified so far. He said 26 others were injured and shifted to a nearby hospital.

In the terror attack, two army soldiers, who were on the bus, were also killed. While one personnel of the Special Protection Unit was injured in the attack, Ahmed added.

He said most of the people belonged to Kohistan, Peshawar, Ghizer, Chilas, Roundu, Skardu, Mansehra and Swabi regions and one or two people were from Sindh.

However, the terrorists managed to escape from the scene after the attack.

Death toll may rise

As per the officials, the condition of several people was critical and the death toll was expected to rise further.

Following this attack, an investigation was launched into the attack and a search operation was on to catch the terrorists.
