A suicide blast has killed at least 44 people at an Islamic party meeting in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan. According to the sources, more than 100 people got injured in the attack.
In Khar, the capital of the Bajaur tribal area, the explosion happened at the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) workers’ conference at 4 pm. The rescue workers have expressed their worry that several casualties may rise. According to police officials, the explosion resulted in at least 44 fatalities and close to 100 injuries.
Noteworthy, is that this is one of the worst blasts in recent memory, according to Saad Khan, the district emergency officer for the Bajaur region, Maulana Ziaullah Jan, the JUI-F’s local leader, also perished in the explosion.

In an official statement, the Prime Minister’s office has said “Terrorists are enemies of Pakistan and they will be eliminated.” It further added that elements involved in the incident will be given strict permission.
The officials further added that the injured had been admitted to the nearest hospital and the condition of the injured people was stated to be critical.
The US has also extended its condolences for the incident.
Earlier also on January 30, a Pakistan Taliban suicide bomber blew himself up during the afternoon prayers in a mosque in Peshawar, killing 101 people and injuring more than 200 others.
