Zakir Rehman Lakhvi released from prison: Zakir Rehman Lakhvi, one of the masterminds behind the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, has reportedly been released from prison in Pakistan. Lakhvi is a co-founder of the notorious Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a terrorist organization responsible for several deadly attacks in India. Along with Hafiz Saeed, he has been instrumental in orchestrating acts of terror, including the infamous 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
Lakhvi's involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai bombings, which shocked the world in 2008, is well-documented. The meticulously coordinated terrorist attack saw ten heavily armed gunmen launch open firing, bomb blasts across multiple locations in Mumbai, including luxury hotels, a hospital, and a train station. The horrific event resulted in the deaths of over 166 people, including foreign nationals. Lakhvi is believed to have played a significant role in planning and funding the attack, which left a lasting scar on India's financial capital.
Zakir Rehman Lakhvi is also known for his direct connection to Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving gunman of the 26/11 attacks. He reportedly funded and trained Kasab, offering a sum of 150,000 Pakistani Rupees to Kasab's family as a part of his recruitment into the terror plot. Lakhvi's financial and operational support was crucial in executing the brutal attacks.

Despite his involvement in one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in India, Lakhvi has largely escaped strict punishment. Although he was detained in Pakistan in 2009, his imprisonment has been inconsistent, with reports indicating that he has continued his activities within the terrorist organization during his time in custody. His ability to evade harsh consequences has long been a point of contention, raising concerns about the effectiveness of Pakistan's counter-terrorism efforts.
