World News: Tension between India and Pakistan is at its peak after the Pahalgam terror attack. Pakistan is under pressure amidst the decisions of India's Sindhu Water Treaty and discussions of possible military action. Islamabad is looking towards China, sometimes Saudi Arabia, sometimes for help.

China asked for fair inquiry, not direct support

On this whole incident, China clarified its position and said that it is closely monitoring the events and advocates a fair and early investigation. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi inquired about the situation by talking on a phone with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, but did not make any statement like giving direct support to Pakistan or accusing India anywhere.

China's statement- tension is not in anyone's interest

Wang Yi clearly stated in his conversation that the struggle and increasing tension is neither in the basic interests of India and Pakistan nor is beneficial for regional peace. China has appealed to both countries to persist and maintain stability.

Pakistan expects, but China balances

Pakistan hoped that China would openly advocate him, but at present, Beijing has taken a very balanced and diplomatic stance. China definitely said that it understands Pakistan's legitimate security concerns, but it did not directly criticize India nor took any sharp stand in favor of Pakistan.

America refuses to intervene

On the other hand, the US has also refused to intervene in the matter, which has further increased Pakistan's diplomatic difficulties. This support of China came at a time when Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif demanded an independent inquiry into the Pahalgam attack.
