Pahalgam Terror Attack: The terrorist attack on Tuesday (22 April) in Pahalgam, a beautiful tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir, shook the country. This was one of the most horrific attacks in recent years. Terrorists of 'The Resistance Front' associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba targeted people on religious grounds, in which 26 innocent tourists were killed. This barbarity sent a wave of anger and grief across the country. This attack not only took a heavy toll on the victim families but also increased the growing tension between India and Pakistan.
Soon after the attack, Indian security agencies have identified 42 terrorist launch pads and training centers located in PoK near the Line of Control (LOC). Based on intelligence inputs, it was revealed that about 150-200 trained terrorists are deployed in different camps to infiltrate. These launch pads include places like Kel, Sardi, Dudhniyaal, Athmuqam, Jura, Lipa, Kotli and Khuiratta.
According to an India Today report, sources have reported that anticipating Indian action, Pakistan army has started shifting terrorists from conventional launch pads in Pok to secure army bunkers. This move is indicative of a desperate attempt to save the terrorists from Indian surveillance and possible action. Such activity clearly shows that Pakistan is making all possible efforts to keep terrorism alive, despite the international pressure it is facing.
A total of 60 foreign terrorists from organizations like Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) are currently said to be active in Jammu and Kashmir, whose sole purpose is to spread instability and terror. Along with them, 17 local terrorists are also active in the Union Territory. The main agenda of these terrorist organizations is to target Indian citizens and disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
