Over 100 were killed and dozens more were injured in a drone attack on a military academy in Syria on Thursday, a war monitor and an official said. The Syrian government forces have also carried out heavy bombing attacks on the opposition-held zone of Idlib throughout the day.The army blamed “terrorist groups backed by known international forces”. However, they have not named a single organisation as the mastermind behind this attack and no one has taken responsibility for this attack as well.The government declared three days of mourning starting Friday, state television reported. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that more than 100 people were killed and 125 injured. The source in the alliance backing Syrias government said the toll was about 100. out of the 100 dead, 14 were civilians.Syria war: Assad regime strikes rebel-held regionSyria has been battling a long-lasting civil war that has consumed many lives over the years. The Assad regime and Russia also bombarded the rebel-held Idlib region later on Thursday. The Observatory said four civilians were killed and others wounded in the assault on several towns in the northwestern opposition bastion. The Idlib region is controlled by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, led by the former local Al-Qaeda branch. In this alleged terrorist assault, an elderly woman and four of her children in a rebel-held area of Aleppo province were killed. Rescue operations are currently underway.
