The United States recently announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. It was a USD 400 million shipment authorized by President Biden on May 10. This comes as part of a larger effort by the US to support Ukraine in the ongoing war with Russia. Notably, this is the third slated for Kyiv since last month which included USD 61 billion for Kyiv.

Sharing it on the official X handle, Antony Blinken said that the United States will continue to stand with Ukraine in the fight against Russia’s aggression.

As per sources, the latest package includes Patriot air defense ammunition and Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, which have proven essential in protecting Ukraine's skies and maintaining the security of its cities.

Moscow has an advantage in artillery fire, so Ukraine desperately needed more 155 mm and 105 mm artillery rounds to repel Russian attacks across the front line, according to the report. Additional weaponry includes more High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems.

Notably, the decision follows the approval of the first USD 1 billion package in late April, not long after President Biden ratified the supplementary national security bill. Congress had been delaying discussions on fresh aid for Ukraine for months before this happened.

It is noteworthy that the fresh sanctions have come on the heels of a fresh attack launched by Russia in the north-eastern Kharkiv region, putting even more pressure on Ukrainian forces.
