At least 13 Indians among the 16 crew members are still reported missing, according to the country’s maritime security centre on Tuesday. The ‘Prestige Falcon’ was carrying 16 crew members including 13 Indians and 3 Sri Lankans. An oil tanker capsized off the coast in the Arabian Sea of Oman, and search and rescue operations are currently underway to locate the missing crew members.

The Indian Embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities to assist in the search efforts. Further details about the cause of the incident and the condition of the remaining crew members are awaited.

The Centre also confirmed to Reuters that the ship is still "submerged, inverted". It did not verify if oil or oil products were seeping into the sea or if the ship had stabilized.

According to shipping data provided by LSEG, the tanker overturned off the coast of Duqm, the main industrial port in Oman, en route to the port of Aden in Yemen.  The vessel is a 2007-built oil products tanker measuring 117 meters in length. Usually, these tiny tankers are utilized for brief coastal trips.

Meanwhile, the search operations are still on and more updates awaited…
