Now Iraq? Explosion hits 'Calso Base' amid ongoing Iran-Israel conflict; 1 killed, 8 injured

Tension have been heightened across the Middle East since Iran fired more than 300 armed drones and missiles at Israel last week. Now, at least three people were injured following five explosions at a pro-Iran military base in Iraq on Saturday. However, the reasons for the blasts have not been known yet.

Explosion hit Calso base

The explosion hit the Calso base, where former pro-Iranian paramilitary group Hashed-al-Shaabi-now integrated into the regular army-is stationed. Iran suspects that this blast is a conspiracy somewhere by Israel. However, Israeli and US officials have vehemently denied these allegations. In a statement, Hashed al-Shaabi confirmed the attack had inflicted material losses and casualities, without specifying the number of wonded. 

Attack comes amid regional tensions

These blasts have happened at a time when Israel is fighting Hamas in Gaza in response to the October 7 attack. It is said that Iran had a hand somewhere behind the attack on Israel. A series of attacks this month between Israel and Iran have exposed the ongoing secret war.
