After Adipurush being banned in Kathmandu, mayor Dhanaraj Acharya, on Monday declared that Pokhara will also not allow any Adipurush shows across the city. The decision has come after Adipurush has sent ripples of different controversies throughout India. In Nepals Kathmandu, all Hindi films got banned amid the Adipurush dialogue row, including the mention of Sita as Indias daughter. Now, the film along with all Hindi films, have been banned in the tourist town of Pokhara too. Across 17 halls in the national capital, police personnel have been deployed to ensure that no Hindi film is screened.No Hindi film allowed to be screened in NepalSpeaking to the media on Sunday, Kathmandu mayor Balendera Shah said that no Hindi films are allowed to run in Kathmandu Metropolitan City until the dialogue “Janaki is a daughter of India” in Adipurush is removed not just in Nepal but in India. Janaki, famously known as Sita is believed by many to have been born in Janakpur in southeast Nepal.After the announcement, Pokhara was the first to follow suit. Taking notes from Shahs firm statements, Pokhara Metropolis mayor Dhanaraj Acharya said, “Film Adipurush will be banned from screening from Monday.”Irreparable damage: Kathmandu MayorMoreover, the Kathmandu mayor said that the screening of Om Rauts directed magnum opus, without removing one of its dialogues will cause “irreparable damage.”Taking it to Twitter, he wrote in Hindi, “Screening of all the Hindi films will be barred within Kathmandu Metropolitan City from Monday, June 19, as the objectionable words in the dialogue of the film Adipurush has not yet been removed.”pic.twitter.com/LpVn6Cogns— Balen Shah (@ShahBalen) June 18, 2023“We have already issued notice three days ago to remove the objectionable portion of the dialogue that Sita is Indias daughter from the movie within three days,” Mayor Shah added.Revision in dialogues to be done in the film AdipurushAs the controversy spiraled, on Sunday Adipurushs dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla said that after the film was criticised heavily for its dialogue, the makers of the film had decided to revise some of them.Further, Shukla said that the amended lines will be added to the film latest by this week.Film Adipurush is produced by T-Series, Retrophiles and UV Creations, starring famous stars like Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh and Devdutta Nage.
