According to a senior official in charge of the North’s military affairs, North Korea is all set to launch its first military missile in coming June. The move has been aimed to track US military action on a real-time basis.

The information came just after a few days when the country informed Japan about the upcoming launch of the satellite on May 31 and June 11. As per reports, all the necessary preparations for the launch of the first military spy satellite have been done. The country have called it a future action plan.

Reportedly, US and South Korean militaries have conducted several training exercises in recent years, but even after many mock drills, it was scaled back amid Covid-19.

North Korea’s planned satellite launch would be against multiple Security Council resolutions forbidding its nuclear and missile programmes because it uses the same technology as ballistic missiles.

Though many questioned North Korea’s satellite capabilities, experts asserted that by enhancing the nation’s surveillance capabilities, spy satellites would help the North stage accurate strikes against targets in conflict scenarios.

According to insiders, the final stage of the covert development of a spy satellite was completed in December.

Ri-Pyong Chol, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the governing Worker’s Party of Korea (WPK), taking it to Twitter to make the announcements.
