North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un has personally joined the rescue efforts following severe flooding in the northern part of the country, caused by heavy rains. The floods have impacted over 4,000 homes, and rescuers have only been able to reach the affected areas by boat.

In response to the disaster, an emergency politburo meeting was convened, where members committed to constructing 4,400 new homes and reinforcing embankments in the regions of Sinuiju and Uiju to prevent future flooding. Rescuers, hindered by floodwaters, could only access affected areas by boat, highlighting the challenges posed by the natural disaster.

The video that has surfaced on social media shows North Korean leader in the rescue boat.

Kim’s involvement underscores the gravity of the situation and the regime's commitment to addressing the needs of the displaced population. The floods have exacerbated existing hardships in the region, necessitating immediate and long-term measures to mitigate the damage and prevent future occurrences.

Meanwhile, it is important to note that the politburo's swift response aims to provide relief and ensure the safety and stability of the affected communities, reinforcing the importance of infrastructure resilience in the face of increasingly severe weather events.
