Nikki Haley, who is currently on the campaign trail, had to briefly leave her activities in New Hampshire on the night of January 16 to attend to her father, Ajit Singh Randhawa, who had been hospitalized. The campaign confirmed this information but did not provide further details about Randhawa's condition. He is believed to be in his 90s.

Haley, the ‘proud daughter’ of Indian immigrants, mentioned her father during the 2020 Republican National Convention, highlighting the challenges her family faced as immigrants. Randhawa, a biology professor, served at Voorhees College in Denmark, South Carolina, from 1969 to 1998.

On Wednesday, Haley returned to New Hampshire for a rally in Rochester, and according to an ABC News reporter, her father is believed to be "doing OK."

Haley, who finished third in the Iowa caucuses, is now focusing on New Hampshire. According to a CNN poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire, she is within seven percentage points of Donald Trump, the winner of the Iowa caucuses.

In response to her performance in Iowa, Haley emphasized the importance of the upcoming primaries, stating that Iowa has turned the Republican Primary into a two-person race. She called on caucus goers to reconsider supporting Trump and urged the GOP to choose a "new generational leader," emphasizing the need for stability in contrast to what she referred to as "Republican chaos."

Haley expressed confidence in the people of Iowa, describing them as patriotic, God-fearing, and hardworking Americans, and encouraged them to lead the way in getting the country back on track.
