Nepal Violence : People have come out on the streets to demand the return of monarchy in Nepal. They are indulging in arson, pelting stones and vandalism. People are demanding the removal of democracy from Nepal and bringing back the king. After this protest, the government has now started to clamp down on former King Gyanendra Shah. Nepalese people have come out to protest only after the appeal of former King Gyanendra Shah.
Penalty demanded from former king Gyanendra Shah
The Kathmandu Municipal Corporation sent a letter to former King Gyanendra Shah, seeking compensation for damage to public property and the environment during pro-monarchy protests in parts of the capital a day earlier.
Situation tense in Kathmandu
Two people, including a TV cameraman, were killed and 110 others injured in clashes between security personnel and pro-monarchy protesters.
Fine of 7,93,000 Nepalese Rupees
Since the protest was organised on the call of Gyanendra Shah, Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah sent a letter to his residence at Nirmala Niwas in Maharajganj on the outskirts of Kathmandu, asking him to pay 7,93,000 Nepalese rupees as compensation for the damages. Copies of the letter sent to the former king were released to the media, in which the KMC said that the protest organised on the call of the former king has damaged various properties of the metropolis and affected the environment of the capital.
Demonstrations happening across the country
Durga Prasad, the convener of Friday's movement, had met Gyanendra Shah a day earlier and received instructions to launch a movement demanding the restoration of monarchy and Hindu nation. Monarchy supporters have been organizing rallies in Kathmandu and other parts of the country and demanding the restoration of the 240-year-old monarchy that was abolished in 2008.
