Pol Crisis in Nepal (File)
Nepal Hindu Rashtra Demand : These days there is a lot of commotion in India's neighboring country Nepal. This commotion is for the return of the monarchy that ended in 2007. People are demanding monarchy again. Rallies are being held all over Nepal. Former King Gyanendra is being welcomed everywhere. The question is why is this happening? Have people become disillusioned with democracy? Why are they demanding a return to the same monarchy against which they had rebelled about 18 years ago? There is also a reason for disappointment in democracy. People are very disappointed and frustrated with what has happened in Nepal in the last 17-18 years. The dreams they had about democracy have not been fulfilled. Their condition has become worse than monarchy. The biggest reason for this is the political instability of this Himalayan country.
14 governments changed in 17 years
In the last 17 years, 14 governments have changed in Nepal. Political stability, functioning of democratic institutions, leadership of leaders, participation of people are all necessary to maintain the vibrancy of democracy, but Nepal's political parties have failed to maintain the beauty of democracy. They have been entangled in power equations to defeat each other and remain in the government. They did not care about the country, people and economy. They remained entangled among themselves to bring down each other and earn their bread. The result of this was that inflation and unemployment reached its peak. The economy is in a bad state. Corruption is at its peak. There is a lot of scams and scandals. Be it the Nepali Congress or the Communist parties, all have disappointed the people. People do not see any hope from them now. People have started feeling that these political parties have ruined the country and them. Monarchy was better than this.
Former king received a warm welcome at Kathmandu airport
Now seeing the huge crowds of people gathering in various places in Nepal for the return of the monarchy, the heartbeat of the communist parties has increased, their condition is bad. Actually, in the last three months, former King Gyanendra visited various parts of Nepal, where he got huge public support. Especially on March 9, when he returned to Kathmandu, a crowd of thousands of people gave him a rousing welcome. It is estimated that about 40,000 people came to see him at Tribhuvan International Airport. The number of people was so high that people stood on the side of the road for six kilometers till the former king's private residence 'Nirmal Niwas'.
Danger of loss of ethnic identity
He also expressed concern over Nepal's deteriorating economic condition, increasing debt, falling standards of industries and weakening of educational institutions. Gyanendra said that he and his family have given up their position and privileges for democracy but this does not mean that they are weak. Referring to Nepal's former status as a Hindu nation, he said that we cannot move forward by erasing our history and disrespecting our identity.
