Update: Five tourists were on board in chopper that crashed this morning close to Mount Everest in Nepal. The debris were discovered three hours after the helicopter vanished.Nepal: Helicopter with 6 onboard goes missingA manang helicopter with six people, including 5 foreign nationals on board goes missing in Nepal on Tuesday morning (July 11).According to the information officer Gyanendra Bhul, “The chopper was en route to Kathmandu from Solukhumbu and got disconnected from the control of the tower at around 10 am. Reportedly, the chopper had taken off from Surki in Solukhumbu for the capital Kathmandu at 9:45 am with the call sign 9NMV and got off the radar at 10:12 am (local time).”The officials confirmed that the helicopter was returning to Kathmandu after the sightseeing trip to the Worlds highest peak Mount Everest.A search operation is still underway involving another chopper and soldiers on the ground. It is to be noted here that much of the surrounding areas are covered on foot with no roads.More details awaited.
