A shocking incident happened in the United States, after a car collided with a parked SUB that was part of President Joe Biden’s motorcade in Delware’s Wilmington on Sunday night. Reportedly, this incident happened when Biden and First Lady Jill Biden had just left after visiting his campaign headquarters.
A sigh of relief that both the US President and Jill Biden were unharmed in this incident.
According to the White House press port report, at the time of the collision, the Bidens had emerged from the Biden-Harris 2024 headquarters in downtown Wilmington amid downpours in the city after having a meal with members of his re-election team.
While President Biden was exiting the building and walking towards his waiting SUV, a sedan collided with a Secret Service vehicle tasked with blocking an intersection ahead. After the initial impact, the sedan driver proceeded towards the closed-off area, prompting immediate action from Secret Service personnel.
The US President was caught looking surprised by the sound before he was rushed into the vehicle, where his wife was already seated. The Bidens were then driven out of the collision site.
Witnesses reported seeing Secret Service agents swiftly surrounding the SUV and ordering the driver to exit the vehicle. It remains unclear if the driver complied immediately, or if further measures were necessary to secure the situation.
The incident did not disrupt President Biden's departure schedule, but it did raise concerns about potential security breaches. Authorities have not yet released details about the driver's motives or potential charges, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
This near-miss incident highlights the complex and demanding task of ensuring the President's safety and underscores the vigilance required by Secret Service personnel to anticipate and react to any potential threats.
