Viral News: In recent months, a troubling trend has emerged on social media: explicit videos falsely attributed to prominent Pakistani celebrities. The latest individual to fall victim to this malicious campaign is renowned news anchor Mona Alam, who hosts "Question Hour with Mona Alam" on Hum News. Responding to the circulation of an alleged explicit video featuring her, Mona took to X (formerly Twitter) to set the record straight.

Mona Alam Addresses False Allegations

Mona shared a screenshot of the purported video and stated, "This woman’s objectionable video is being spread by petty haters on social media, claiming it’s me." She emphasized that the individual in the video is a known criminal, providing a real screenshot of the person in question to clarify the misinformation.

Legal Action Taken

In her post, Mona also disclosed that she filed a police complaint regarding the issue. She asserted, "My character is spotless, and all those campaigning against it will face the music!" The complaint was lodged with the Additional Director of the Federal Investigation Agency Cyber Crime in Islamabad, where she included links to social media posts that falsely associated explicit content with her name.

The Nature of the Campaign

Mona's complaint detailed how individuals have been disseminating intimidating and explicit content online, falsely claiming it features her. She noted that several senior journalists received fake adult-rated videos via WhatsApp, further complicating her situation. This incident is not isolated; many Pakistani celebrities have faced similar character assassination attempts in recent months.

A Wider Issue Among Celebrities

The trend of targeting public figures with false explicit content has affected various influencers in Pakistan. Notable personalities such as Maryam Faisal, Kanwal Aftab, Minahil Malik, Mathira Mohammad, and Imsha Rehman have also been victims of these deceptive campaigns. Most have vehemently denied any connection to the alleged videos circulating online.

Mona Alam's experience highlights a disturbing pattern of cyber harassment aimed at tarnishing the reputations of public figures. As she takes legal steps to combat this issue, it underscores the need for greater awareness and protective measures against online defamation.
