The accusations against Narendra Modi's Indian government and its allies are quite serious and have generated significant international attention and debate. One of the recent events shared by one of Sikhs to ABC news, alleged that Indian authorities sent people to his parent’s home in Punjab saying that they should stop their son to stop activism in Australia. He said that Indian authorities threatened them that they would kill if anyone doing the opposite against the country.

Then a couple of months later, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a fellow Khalistani activist was killed in broad daylight outside a Sikh temple in Vancouver. India disputes accusations made by the Canadian government that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government planned the assassination.

The long arm of the Indian state is approaching Australia as the federal government accepts Narendra Modi and his administration as a significant partner, intimidating diaspora people and suppressing opponents.

Spying Allegations:

There have been allegations that the Indian government and its allies have engaged in spying activities targeting individuals critical of Modi's administration, both within India and abroad. Allegations also include that officers were trying to gain access to sensitive defence technology and airport security protocols.

These accusations often involve claims of surveillance, monitoring of communications, and other forms of intelligence gathering aimed at stifling dissent and opposition voices.

Silencing Sikh Critics:

The Sikh community, particularly those critical of the Indian government's policies, have claimed harassment and intimidation.
This has included alleged efforts to suppress dissenting voices within Sikh communities globally, including in countries like Australia, where there is a significant Sikh diaspora.

Pushing Far-Right Ideology in Australia:

There have been concerns raised about efforts by elements supportive of Modi's government to promote a nationalist and sometimes far-right agenda among Indian communities abroad, including in Australia.

This includes allegations of influencing diaspora groups, promoting divisive narratives, and attempting to shape perceptions and politics within the Indian community abroad.

These issues are complex and controversial, often intertwining with broader geopolitical dynamics and debates over nationalism, free speech, and diaspora politics. They have sparked debates about the limits of state power, the protection of minority rights, and the influence of domestic politics on diaspora communities.
