King Charles III was admitted to the hospital on Thursday because of side effects from his cancer treatment. "Following receipt of planned and ongoing cancer medical treatment this morning, The King suffered temporary side effects requiring a brief period of hospital observation."

Public appearances canceled

Afternoon activities were therefore cancelled," Buckingham Palace said in a statement via a representative to the Sun on Thursday. The spokesman added, "His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House and as a precautionary step, on medical advice, tomorrow's diary programme will also be rearranged. His Majesty wishes to express his apologies to everyone who may be inconvenienced or disappointed thereby.

Side effect of cancer treatment

He is set to undertake four public engagements in Birmingham tomorrow and is deeply saddened to be missing them on this day. He sincerely hopes that they will be rescheduled in due course and sends his sincerest apologies to all concerned who had worked so hard to organize the visit." King Charles was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024, after a medical procedure for benign prostate growth. In December, cancer treatment would carry on into the New Year. Palace sources informed the outlet, "His treatment has been going in a good direction and as a controlled condition the treatment cycle will continue into next year."
