Israel released Palestinian detainees

Earlier in the day, Israel had also released 39 Palestinian detainees following the release of 13 hostages by Hamas. The hostages and prisoners released by Hamas and Israel on Sunday included only women and children.

These exchanges of hostages have come into effect after the Israeli authorities and the Palestinian militant group came under an agreement to have a four-day ceasefire along with the release of 50 Israelis and 150 Palestinians.

After the agreement was made on Friday, the first swap between the warring parties was marked by Hamas freeing 13 hostages while Israel released 39 Palestinian prisoners on Saturday.
