New Delhi: Dasari Gopikrishna, a 32-year-old Indian student, was among the five people who lost their lives in the June 21 shooting at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordice, Arkansas, USA. Gopikrishna was originally from Bapatla in Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has also expressed condolences on his death and assured all possible help to the victim's family.

Packet of cigarettes turned out fatal

According to the information, 32-year-old Gopikrishna was at the counter of the store on Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, an unknown attacker entered the store and started firing bullets. During this, he took the packet of cigarettes that he had to buy and went away. In this firing, Gopikrishna, who was present at the counter, got seriously injured and fell on the ground. After which people somehow took him to the hospital, where he died during treatment on Sunday. This entire incident was captured in the CCTV camera installed in the store. In which the attacker is clearly seen firing.

Andhra CM expressed grief 

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief in a post on X on Sunday, Indian time, "It is very sad to know that Dasari Gopikrishna, a young man from Bapatla, died due to injuries sustained in the shooting incident in America. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and assure them that the state government will provide all possible assistance in bringing his body back home. We stand firmly with his family and pray that they find strength in this difficult time.''

Jagan Mohan also expressed grief

According to HT report, YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has also expressed grief over the death of the Indian student. He has appealed to the Naidu government and the Ministry of External Affairs to provide unconditional assistance to the family of the deceased.

The family living in Yajali in Karlapalem mandal of Bapatla district was shocked to hear the news of Gopikrishna's death. He is survived by a son and wife.

14 people killed in Arkansas shooting 

Police said in a statement that about 14 people were shot in the incident, including 11 civilians, two law enforcement officers and the suspect. The other four dead were identified as Shirley Taylor, Roy Sturgis, Ellen Shrum and Callie Weems. Police have identified the suspected shooter who opened fire at the Mad Butcher grocery store as Travis Eugene Posey, 44, of New Edinburgh. Police have arrested him and he will be charged with murder.
