Wheels of PIA Flight PK-306

It was reported that one of the rear wheels of PIA flight PK-306, which was en route from Karachi to Lahore, was lost as it was landing at Lahore Airport. A spokesperson for PIA stated a probe into the incident has been initiated. He said the investigation is centred around whether the aircraft flew from Karachi with the "missing wheel" or if it broke loose and fell off in flight.. He added that some pieces of the wheel were found at Karachi Airport. The official further stated that it appears the rear wheel of the plane was in a deteriorated condition when the aircraft took off.

Wheel Missing During Landing

A PIA spokesperson stated that PK-306 made a "smooth and incident-free landing" at the scheduled time. He added that the passengers were disembarking the plane as usual. Upon inspection by the plane's captain, they found that one of the six wheels of the main landing gear was missing.

The spokesman informed that, according to standard flight practice, this issue has been brought up before PIA's flight safety department and Lahore Airport team, who are inquiring into the incident and will submit their report later. The spokesperson further stated that the aircraft was designed with such contingencies in mind, and there was no danger to the equipment or passengers. He also mentioned that the investigation team will look into whether the wheel was stolen, although the likelihood of that is very low.
