North Korea sends troops to Russia: In a significant geopolitical development, South Korea's intelligence agency has revealed that North Korea has dispatched troops to Russia in support of its war against Ukraine. This move could potentially escalate tensions between North Korea, South Korea, and Western nations, as it marks the involvement of a third nation in the ongoing conflict.

The National Intelligence Service (NIS) of South Korea reported on Friday that between October 8 and October 13, Russian naval vessels transported 1,500 North Korean special forces to the Russian port city of Vladivostok. The NIS also indicated that additional troops are expected to follow in the coming days.

These North Korean soldiers, according to the NIS, have been provided with Russian military uniforms, weapons, and falsified identification documents. Currently stationed at Russian military bases in Vladivostok, Ussuriysk, Khabarovsk, and Blagoveshchensk, they are undergoing adaptation training and are expected to be deployed to combat zones soon.

Satellite imagery and other intelligence, shared by the NIS on its website, allegedly show Russian naval movements near North Korean ports and mass gatherings of North Korean troops in Ussuriysk and Khabarovsk. South Korean media have reported that North Korea plans to send 12,000 troops, organized into four brigades, to assist Russia, although the NIS has yet to confirm this number.

Despite these claims, Russia continues to deny that it is utilizing North Korean soldiers in its war efforts.
