Making a sharp attack, Kamala Harris hit back to controversial remarks made by Donald Trump about her racial identity, stating that "American people deserve better." While addressing at one of the events, Harris asserted that the country today has two choices between two visions and alleged that Trump and his party’s campaign aims to take company backward.

It is important to note that the statement from the presidential candidate has come after Trump had questioned her racial background and eligibility for the vice-presidency during his campaign. Responding to which, Harris, the first female vice president of Black and South Asian descent, emphasized the importance of unity and inclusivity in America, criticizing Trump's divisive rhetoric and highlighting the need for leaders who represent and respect the diversity of the nation.

During her address, she asserted, “Across our nation, we are witnessing a full assault on hard-fought, hard-won freedoms. Our fight is for the future and for freedom. We are not going back.”

"In this moment, we face a choice, between two very different visions for our nation. One focused on the future, the other focused on the past. And we in this room, are fighting for the future," she added.

Donald Trump questioned Kamala Harris racial identity

The controversy began when Donald Trump questioned Kamala Harris's racial identity by asking, "Is she Indian or is she black?" However, the White House has condemned Trump's remarks, calling them divisive and inappropriate. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that such comments are unworthy of the dignity of the office Trump once held and emphasized that Harris's diverse heritage is strength and an embodiment of America's values. Harris herself responded by reaffirming her commitment to representing all Americans and promoting unity over division.

He added that Harris wanted to be recognized as black and that she "all of a sudden, made a turn" in her identification.

At a Chicago conference for Black Journalists, Trump was questioned why Black voters should support a politician who had a track record of racial attacks on political opponents. This prompted him to make the remarks.

Meanwhile, it is important to note that in past also, Trump has made similar comments. For years, he pushed the ‘birther’ conspiracy theory that ex-President Barack Obama was not born in the United States.
