New Delhi: US President Joe Biden has put an end to speculation surrounding his candidacy in the upcoming presidential election against Donald Trump. Pressure on Joe Biden after presidential debate

In a challenging presidential debate, Biden faced criticism for his performance. He struggled to complete sentences and appeared freezeed on several occasions. This triggered calls from Democratic lawmakers, donors, and public figures urging him to withdraw from the race. There were suggestions that Vice President Kamala Harris could be a viable alternative.

What has Biden written in letter?

In his letter, shared on social media, Biden stated that he is the strongest contender within the Democratic Party to challenge Trump. Biden said, "We had a Democratic nomination process and the voters have spoken clearly and decisively. I received over 14 million votes, 87 percent of the votes cast across the entire nominating process. I have nearly 3,900 delegates, making me the presumptive nominee of our party by a wide margin."

Defending democratic principles

Addressing concerns about his age and health following the debate, Biden acknowledged these discussions but affirmed his commitment to democracy within the party. He stated that voters, not external influences like the media or donors, determine the party's nominee.

Health concerns for Biden

While Biden's age and health have been under scrutiny, particularly after the debate, reports have varied. However, supporters claim that Biden has shown sharpness in governance matters, such as handling international crises from the Situation Room.
