Israel-Hamas conflict: PM Modi, UAE Prez express 'deep concerns' over terrorism

During their telephonic conversation, both leaders expressed deep concerns over the issue of terrorism in West Asia, the deteriorating security situation, and the loss of civilian lives in the region.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mohamed bin Zayed. The conversation centered on the ongoing 28-day conflict between Israel and Hamas which has tragically claimed the lives of over 9,200 Palestinians.

During their telephonic conversation, both leaders expressed deep concerns over the issue of terrorism in West Asia, the deteriorating security situation, and the loss of civilian lives in the region. This dialogue took place against the backdrop of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

PM Modi shared a post on microblogging platform X which stated that they agreed on the necessity for an early resolution of the security and humanitarian situation. They emphasized that the establishment of a durable regional peace, security, and stability is in the interest of all parties involved.

The caption reads, "Had a good conversation with my brother HH Mohamed Bin Zayed, President of UAE, on the West Asia situation. We share deep concerns at the terrorism, deteriorating security situation and loss of civilian lives. We agree on the need for early resolution of the security and humanitarian situation and that a durable regional peace, security and stability is in everyone’s interest".

Antony Blinken meets Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday, where he urged measures to protect civilians amidst the ongoing conflict with Hamas. Meanwhile, Israeli forces increased their encirclement of Gaza City.

Tensions flared along the northern border with Lebanon, after a speech by Hassan Nasrallah, who is the leader of Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed ally of Hamas. 

Death tolls 

Amid the  Israel-Hamas conflict, the Palestinian death toll has tragically reached 9,227, as reported by the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza. Over 140 Palestinians have lost their lives in the violence and Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank.
