According to an official IDF statement, the operation commenced when soldiers located the concealed tunnel entrance. After the militant's arrest, the Israeli army reported that they conducted field interrogations before transferring him to a detention facility for further investigation.

The IDF provided insights into the operation, stating, "During IDF operations in southern Lebanon, forces discovered an underground tunnel shaft inside a building and captured a Hezbollah terrorist. The troops surrounded the building, found the tunnel entrance, and uncovered a hidden underground complex about 7 meters deep, spanning 50 meters, equipped for an extended stay. Inside, the terrorist was found with weapons and supplies. After the terrorist surrendered, IDF soldiers interrogated him on-site before transferring him to a detention facility for further questioning," as noted in their statement on X.

Escalation of military actions

As the situation escalates, Israel has intensified its aerial bombardment across Lebanon, targeting not only traditional Hezbollah strongholds but also civilian areas. Reports indicate that Israeli warplanes struck a century-old mosque in a village near the border on the same day. The attacks also included a marketplace in the southern city of Nabatiyeh and deadly strikes on a Shiite Muslim village in a predominantly Christian mountain area, according to Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) and the health ministry.

This multifaceted military operation underscores the growing tension in the region and highlights the ongoing conflict between Israeli forces and Hezbollah.
