New Delhi: Conflict between Israel and Palestine is a persistent military and political struggle in the Levant. Commencing in the mid-20th century, it stands as one of the lengthiest ongoing conflicts globally. Fundamental aspects of this conflict revolve around the status of Jerusalem, Israeli settlements, borders, security, and water rights, along with Palestinian freedom of movement and the right of return for Palestinians.

Following the recent exchange of strikes between the two sides has completed 100 days in a row. The war has bereft thousands of food, family and homes. Here is a timeline of what the major incident that we grasped from the ongoing conflict which led to major destruction and devastation in the Gaza strip.

October 8: Hezbollah, based in Lebanon, initiates cross-border shelling attacks on Israel, leading to counter-strikes by Israeli forces.

October 13: Israel instructs Gaza City residents, home to over 1 million people, to evacuate southward. The evacuation effort expands over the following weeks, impacting the entire north of Gaza and displacing hundreds of thousands of Gazans.

October 17: An explosion at al-Ahli al-Arabi Baptist hospital in Gaza City triggers controversy. Palestinians attribute it to an Israeli airstrike, while Israel claims it resulted from a misfired Palestinian rocket. The incident overshadows U.S. President Joe Biden's visit to the region.

October 19: A U.S. navy warship intercepts missiles and drones launched from Yemen towards Israel. Yemen's Houthi group, allied with Iran, continues sporadic long-range attacks on Israel in solidarity with Gaza.

October 21: Aid trucks enter Gaza through the Rafah border crossing from Egypt after diplomatic challenges. The limited supplies highlight the ongoing humanitarian crisis as Gaza faces shortages of food, water, medicines, and fuel.

October 27: A week after limited incursions, Israel launches a broad ground offensive in Gaza, starting with a northern assault, aiming to free hostages and eliminate Hamas.
