Israel-Hamas conflict: PM Modi, Prez Raisi exchange views on escalation situation in West Asia

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of Iranian, Ebrahim Raisi stressed on the need to prevent an escalating situation in the Isael-Hamas conflict. Mr. Modi also emphasized the ways to find restoration of peace and stability.

PM Modi shared a post on the microblogging platform to share his views with the Iranian president. The caption reads, “Good exchange of perspectives with President Raisi of Iran on the difficult situation in West Asia and the Israel-Hamas conflict”.

Furthermore, it added, “Terrorist incidents, violence and loss of civilian lives are serious concerns. Preventing escalation, ensuring continued humanitarian aid and early restoration of peace and stability are important”. 

PM Modi clears India's stance

The Indian Prime minister has spoken to several regional leaders since the war broke out on October 7. He highlighted that India condemns all forms of terrorism and supports the two-state solution.

The external affairs ministry said in a media release that Modi expressed “deep concern” at the terrorist incidents, violence, and loss of civilian lives. Modi also reiterated India’s “longstanding and consistent position on the Israel-Palestine issue”, while Raisi shared his assessment of the situation.

The readouts added, “Both the leaders emphasized on the need for preventing escalation, ensuring continued humanitarian aid and early restoration of peace and stability”.


PM MOdi’s phone call with the Iranian president came a day after EAM S Jaishankar's interaction with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. Jaishankar discussed the grave situation in West Asia and the concern of the international community”. He also conveyed the “importance of preventing escalation and providing humanitarian support”.

Death toll mounts

As the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continues to bombard the Gaza Strip in response to Hamas terror attack, above 10,000 Palestinians have been killed. Meanwhile, more than 1,400 people were killed in the terror attacks by Hamas.
