Israel-Hamas conflict: At least 14 Palestinians were killed in Gaza on Saturday in Israel's air strikes that hit two houses on Old Gaza Street in Jabalia. Dozens were also killed in another strike that hit in Jabalia, the official WAFA news agency reported. The latest strike came after the US urged Israel to scale down its military campaign. The Palestinian news agency reported that many civilians are still trapped under rubble.

On the other hand, the Israeli military clarified that the IDF killed militants who were hiding in two schools in Gaza City and raided apartments in Khan Younis. The military also claimed that it uncovered what it described as underground infrastructure being used by Hamas.

The strikes follow a warning from the US that if Israel continues to carry out 'indiscriminate' airstrikes that murder people in Palestine, it could lose its backing from other countries.

US stance on ongoing conflict

US officials stated that Jake Sullivan, President Joe Biden's national security advisor, sent a message to Israel on Thursday and Friday asking it to shift from a broad military campaign to more focused operations against Hamas leaders.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed earlier today that they shot and killed three hostages in the Shejaiya neighbourhood of the Gaza Strip because they believed them to be a 'threat'. Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, described the event as an 'unbearable tragedy'.

After the hostages were accidentally killed, there was a large-scale demonstration in Tel Aviv's Kaplan Junction.

As per The Times of Israel, protesters chanted, "There is no victory until every last hostage is released!"

The health ministry in the region, which is managed by Hamas, reports that the number of deaths in Gaza during the Israel-Hamas conflict has increased to 18,787. The ministry also stated that the fighting has resulted in 50,897 injuries.
