Israel-Hamas conflict: In an air strike, Israel killed a top commander of the Hezbollah group Wissam Hassan Tawil in south Lebanon on Monday. The latest strikes resulted after fears rose that the war in Gaza could spread in the Middle East. Amid the escalating exchange of strikes along the Lebanon border, the Israeli attack comes as the fighting in Gaza imposes a mounting toll on the civilians.

Earlier, a Hezbollah rocket demolished the sensitive air traffic base in northern Israel in one of the biggest attacks in the past three months. The situation escalated further as strikes-counterstrikes continued, killing a senior Hamas leader in Beirut last week. While the terror organisation called the attack an 'initial response' to the killing of Hamas' deputy political leader Saleh Arouri.
