A 22-year-old reserve soldier from Herzliya, Acting Sergent Omer Bello has been killed including three other soldiers injured near the Lebanon border amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, an army spokesperson confirmed on Saturday. Bello was a platoon commander in the Alexandroni Brigade.

Officials reported that the Israeli soldiers went under attack by anti-tank fire near the conflict area. Two of the wounded soldiers were reported as having suffered moderate injuries, while another soldier sustained more severe injuries.

Rise in attack from Lebanese border

In recent days, there has been a rise in incidents along the Lebanese border involving attacks by Hezbollah militants. Israeli soldiers stationed along the border have been repeatedly targeted with anti-tank missiles, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have successfully blocked several infiltration attempts by terrorists from the Lebanese border. Daily missile attacks from Lebanon have forced the evacuation of several northern Israeli communities.

Earlier, Israeli troops killed four separate groups of Hezbollah infiltrators along the Lebanese border on Friday. However, a terrorist who entered the country and attacked Israeli soldiers near Moshav Margaliot was eliminated, although a soldier was seriously wounded during the confrontation. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continued to target Hezbollah facilities and assets throughout Friday night.

In a statement issued by the IDF at 04:15 on Saturday morning, an IDF spokesperson announced, "IDF aircraft recently carried out a series of strikes on military targets associated with the Hezbollah terrorist organization. This action was in response to the firing of anti-tank missiles and missile launches into Israeli territory the previous night".

Furthermore, the statement added, "Among the targets struck were several military installations used by Hezbollah for their operations and terrorist infrastructure. In addition, the IDF targeted an anti-tank launcher positioned near the border and aimed at Israel. The IDF is fully prepared for various scenarios across different sectors and will remain dedicated to ensuring the security of Israeli citizens".
