Israel-Hamas conflict: Hezbollah hits Israel with rockets, anti-tank missile amid truce in Gaza

Hezbollah fired dozens of surface-to-air rockets at northern Israel from the Lebanese border. The sudden strike compelled thousands of people in northern towns and communities to rush to bomb shelters. 

Israel's military said this is one largest barrages since the beginning of the Israel attack on Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that around 35 rockets launched from Lebanon that entered the border into Israel. Hezbollah claimed responsibility and said it had launched 48 rockets at an army base in Israel. As per the reports for Army Radio, the terror group, Hezbollah took responsibility for anti-tank guided missile and mortar attacks at northern Israel.

What is Israel Defense Force's response?

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that it used aircraft and Iron Sting-guided mortars in response to the attack. Later the IDF destroyed the 'terrorist infrastructure', which was used as launch sites in Lebanon with the help of fighter jets and combat helicopters. 

The Times of Israel cited that, till afternoon, at least 80 rockets, missiles, and mortars were fired at Israel from Lebanon.

What is Hezbollah's role in war?

Earlier this week, the Foreign Minister of Israel, Eli Cohen has spoke out on several occasions against Hezbollah’s ongoing attacks against Israel. He also informed the UN Security Council that Hezbollah must be disarmed and removed from southern Lebanon on Tuesday in order to avoid an escalation of the ongoing war.
